Chinese proficiency tests

Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK), Youth Chinese Test (YCT) HSK and YCT are official standardized and internationally recognized tests to determine the Chinese language skills of non-native speakers. The various tests have different requirements and are aimed at specific target groups.

 

The Chinese Hanban (central department for Chinese lessons abroad) assesses and issues certificates.

 

Registration is online only at http://www.chinesetest.cn (“Test Registration” or “考试报名”). Please note the registration deadlines.

 

Further information (checklist, amount of participation fees, course of the exam) will be announced on our website in advance of the respective exam dates.

Chinese proficiency test


The HSK exam is an official, standardized and internationally recognized test to determine the Chinese language skills of non-native speakers. It is comparable to the "Test of English as a Foreign Language" (TOEFL) or the "Japanese Language Proficiency Test" (JLPT). The HSK certificate serves:

as proof of Chinese language skills


for admission to a course of study, obtaining an academic degree or participating in graduate courses at a university in China


as a recognized qualification on the job market


as objective feedback on your current language level


as a requirement to be recognized as a Chinese interpreter in China (upper level).

 


Participants can choose between elementary, intermediate and advanced level in the oral examination; In the written exam, you can choose between six exam levels. All exam types and levels are conducted independently on the same day.

It is possible to take the oral and written exam at the same time. Please note that in order to take part in the written examination (HSK) and the oral examination (HSKK), a separate registration on the Hanban website is required for each examination and examination level.
